Langans Brushwood Spy

My introduction to the Shiba Inu was in 1994 when Spy (Ch. Langans Brushwood Spy) entered my life. Although I had owned other purebred dogs, Spy easily won my heart with his sweet disposition and laid back attitude. Spy has been a joy to show (…he did pull some stunts in the ring as a pup) and live with. He set the standard for the temperament I wanted to produce in my dogs. We said goodbye to our beloved boy in 2010 but he will be long remembered in our home and in the Shiba community. He was an amazing ambassador for the breed.

Spy was thrilled to come out of a LONG retirement and strut his stuff at the Shiba Inu Canada First National Specialty 2006 in Edmonton winning Best Veteran in both the Sweeps and Specialty!

Since Spy, I have been lucky to work with Susan Norris-Jones of Sunojo Shiba Inus.

We are also "owned by" Strider (CH Sunojo's Elessar at Usheens) - this boy is always the clown and loves to push my buttons - but adorable all the same. Strider is the sire of Vader (Akashimas Dark Side of Usheens) a stunning black and tan male and Pikachu (Akashimas Pikachu of Usheens) a real cutie. These two are up and comers in the show ring and the future of our breeding program.

Charm (CH Sunojo's Mei Wakusuru No Usheens) truly charms everyone she meets with her Shiba smile and wagging tail. She is the dam of MeiSow (Usheens MeiSow Lohn Lei) who is another youngster in our home.

And then there is Daichi (MBIS, BISS, Am/Can/Intl CH Katai's Daichi No Sunojo). Dash is a Shiba breeders dream. He broke show records in Canada and is still the top winning Shiba Inu of all time in this country. The best part? He LOVED every minute of it. Dash was bred by Bonnie Gibbons in RI, USA and is co-owned with Susan Norris-Jones. Dash already has Champion and Group placing offspring in the show ring. Watch for them!

We can't leave out sweet, little MeiMei (Katai's MeiMei No Usheens), a full and younger sister to Dash. She made us all proud going Best Puppy in Specialty Show at the Shiba Inu Canada National Specialty 2008 and Reserve Winners at the Specialty in 2009. She is a sweetheart and proven herself a fantastic mother.

I am one of the founding members of

Shiba Inu Canada, the CKC recognized National Breed Club. I have served as the Secretary / Treasurer for the Club since it's inception in 1999 to 2009. I currently serve as the Club President.

I am also licensed by The Canadian Kennel Club as a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) Evaluator.
